The “yellow one”

Built by Morris Motors with the construction number 85861 and military serial DF 112, it entered service with the RAF and served with various Elementary Flying Training Schools up and down the country. Included in the list of schools was 22 EFTS based in Cambridge, which is of course very close to Duxford. In 1947 it went further North to 11 RFS at Perth in Scotland for a time then came South again to an Advanced Flying School based at Valley in North Wales.
It was “demobbed” in August 1954 and became G-ANRM with Hants and Sussex Aviation in Portsmouth. At this time the Tiger Moth was the plane of choice for flying clubs and groups and it then spent 5 years with the Avon Flying Group based in Melksham. After flying with several other groups it was withdrawn from use in 1965 after a period with the Coventry Gliding Club, presumably as a tug aircraft. It then entered a long period of storage until it was resurrected in 1987 after a 2-year restoration. It came into the care of the Clacton Aero Club in 1991 and has recently undergone a major overhaul to appear in the very distinctive all-yellow colour scheme, which is typical of an RAF training aircraft.
